MISMO Publishes Updated Commercial Appraisal Dataset

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 27, 2025 ) – MISMO®, the real estate finance industry's standards organization, today announced publication of an enhancement to the existing Commercial Appraisal Dataset. The update introduces JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) as an additional communication format alongside the current XML format which remains unchanged.

“The enhancement stems from an initiative launched in April 2023 to explore alternative methods of delivering the data standard,” said MISMO Acting President Rick Hill. “The update provides guidance on utilizing JSON as a complementary format to XML for transmitting appraisal data.”

The updated dataset, along with supporting documentation, is available to MISMO members via the MISMO website. Non-members can learn more about access options by visiting the site or reaching out to [email protected].

As with previous commercial data standardization efforts, this work does not aim to standardize the business processes involved in the collection, exchange, or handling of appraisal information, acknowledging the diverse needs of the industry.
