MISMO Seeks Public Comment on Enhanced Commercial Appraisal Dataset

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October18, 2024) – MISMO®, the real estate finance industry's standards organization, today announced it is seeking public feedback on an enhancement to the existing Commercial Appraisal Dataset. The enhancement introduces JSON as an alternative communication format alongside the current XML format. Importantly, the introduction of JSON does not modify the existing Commercial Appraisal Data Standard.

This enhancement resulted from an industry need to explore alternative methods of delivering the Commercial Appraisal Dataset. The update provides guidance on utilizing JSON as a complementary format to XML for transmitting appraisal data.  Inclusion of JSON as an additional communication format provides the opportunity for broader adoption of the standard and enables commercial lenders access to higher quality appraisal data.

The public comment period allows at least 60 days’ notice prior to final release to review and disclose any applicable Patent Rights (as defined by MISMO's 2018 Intellectual Property Rights Policy). The 60-day public comment period runs through December 17, 2024. Disclosures and comments should be directed to [email protected].
