SMART Doc® Validation Rules Certification
A MISMO SMART Doc® is an electronic document that can lock together data and the presentation in such a way that it can be system-validated to guarantee the integrity of the document. The MISMO SMART Doc Validation Rules Certification ensures each certified platform has implemented a standard set of rules to validate SMART Docs which reduces interoperability challenges and streamlines implementations. MISMO SMART Docs are created in both Version 1.02 and Version 3 of the MISMO standards. MISMO has created separate certifications for each.
MISMO SMART Doc V1.02 Validation Rules Certification
Every eNote created utilizes the MISMO SMART Doc V 1.02. To increase interoperability between eVaults when validating eNotes, SMART Doc Validation rules were created as part of the of the eVault standards. But there are times when a non-eVault system may need to also validate an eNote conforms to the SMART Doc standard. For this, MISMO created a standalone validation rules certification for non-eVaults. This allows systems that handle eNotes prior to entering an eVault to ensure their system also has the ability to verify an eNote conforms to the MISMO standards. Examples of such systems: systems that create eNotes such as document providers, Remote online notary platforms that sign eNotes, and other systems that get copies of the eNotes prior to the execution of the eNote.

MISMO SMART Doc V3 Verifiable Profile Validation Rules Certification
The newly released MISMO SMART DOC Version 3 Verifiable profile provides the ability to verify that the data matches the information contained in the viewable image of the document. This new standard allows the document to be a PDF. This product can help you facilitate automated validation that the data and the related document have not been modified.
MISMO SMART Doc Validation Rules V3 Verifiable Profile certification verifies V3 SMART Docs are created according to the established rules and guideline will accelerates adoption timelines and reduces interoperability challenges with V3 Verifiable SMART Doc’s. The MISMO community has already created a number of sample V3 documents, including the title commitment letter, closing protection letter, and a number of VA forms. A number of others are currently in progress, including the CD and the LE, the security instrument, home equity documents, and closing instruction templates. MISMO certification process will include all these documents plus custom V3 SMART Docs.
MISMO provides the interested parties with test case documents and engineering guidelines to help them develop their solution according to established standards.
